More Photoshop Fun
Hey there! Well I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh last Saturday, so hooray for now more school! Now I have to really focus on finding a job, I've been sending out applications and e-mails, but no one is hiring. So in my free time and boredom I played with this old photograph of my parents. I found it in a little wallet sized picture case, scanned it in and enlarged it. Then went about fixing the damage and making it look nicer. Makes you want a time machine so you could see how young they were!

Fun With Photoshop
Hey all, Tim needed a picture for school, so I decided to play around with one and make some improvements. I have the original, and then the one where I took away some shine and smoothed things over, and then the last one where I just had fun and added a fancy background.

Smells Nice

Can you guess what this is? Five points to who ever guesses first! Another example of color vs black and white. In this case I think I prefer the black and white, though its a close toss up. If I were to use this image in a portfolio I would choose either the color, or the none color. The reason I think the b&w may work better as a piece is that it allows a broader range for presentation. The lack of color can make it more universally appealing and could be framed and hung in pretty much any color room. The colored one I think narrows that down... let me know what you think! I'm sure it varies from person to person.

Curtain Detail
I like this picture because of the way the light and shadows play across the fabric. And the curtain holder has that great highlight which adds some nice texture. I have to go to the store and buy film for my SLR camera, it has a really good macro lens on it that I hope to get some nice HQ pictures from it.

On the Prowl
Wandering around the house with the camera, it can be tricky to find something interesting to shoot. And things only look good when there is a contrast of light and shadow, so I followed the sunlight around as it went through the various windows. Luckily I was able to catch this rare beast on camera while he was hunting for something innocent and cute to eat. Very few of these creatures have been seen, and we should all feel privileged that he allowed us this rare glimpse into his hunt.

Thought for the Day

"Spiritual realization is to see clearly that what I perceive, experience, think, or feel is ultimately not who I am, that I cannot find myself in all those things that continually pass away. What remains is the light of consciousness in which perception, experiences, thoughts, and feelings come and go. That is Being, that is the deeper, true I."
In the next few days I will be playing around with my digital camera, I haven't taken many pictures lately for artistic purposes, and I feel like I should get back into the game. It is always fun to see what a shot looks like when placed into frame, the separation from context makes it something entirely new. I think I will also put up pictures that I did in photography class at Saint Mike's,
working in the darkroom was one of my favorite things to do.
One day when I have money I want to have my own darkroom....
