If You Were A Superhero....

If you were a superhero what powers would you have? I know that I would want to fly, and maybe have some kind of telekinetic thing going on too. I drew this in Illustrator, me as one of the X-Men. I have with me my two favorite mutants, Gambit and Storm. I like my costume, though I hardly have the body to pull that off, lol. I experimented a lot with color and gradients. The lightning and cards in Gambits hands were tricky to do, I had to play around to get the glowing effect. Well sounds like Prof. X is calling us, time to go save the world! ;oP

Final Projects

Hello! Today I finished my Advanced Computer Graphics course, although I am not sure if I learned too much in the ways of advanced graphics. Our project was to design a direct mail campaign for a non-profit organization. I choose the Memphremagog Arts Collaborative, and each fall they have an event called Art On Main. The whole main street is closed and artists can set up booths to sell things, and there are concerts through out the day. I decided to do a postcard for the mailer, I had the idea of framing main street and showing it as "art."

This is an actual picture of Newport's Main Street, I used Photoshop to get the painted effect, and I added the lamp post and banner. I used Illustrator to do the backside.

We also had to create some add ons for the campaign. These could be anything to give people as a way of saying thank you for supporting the event. I decided to have a t-shirt, and bumper sticker, I figure that there would be a good amount of exposure for the event with people wearing them, and having the logo on their cars.

We also had to design a black and white newspaper ad, and a website layout for the event. I like the way the newspaper ad came out, I wanted to use the pallet because it was a recognizable graphic image and people would be able to connect it with the event.
My next class doesn't start until April 6, so I have a nice little break. I'll be busy moving everything to the downstairs, and painting and cleaning to make the upstairs rentable. Hopefully I will be able to get some fun things in, and I'll post them here. Ciao!

Mercury

In Roman mythology, Mercury was a messenger, and a god of trade, profit and commerce. Mercury has influenced the name of a number of things in a variety of scientific fields, such as the planet Mercury. The word mercurial is commonly used to refer to something or someone erratic, volatile or unstable, derived from Mercury's swift flights from place to place. The term comes from astrology and describes the expected behavior of someone under the influence of the planet Mercury.
This is another 9x12 pencil and charcoal drawing. I tried to get a sense of movement with the body. The feet were the hardest part to do, the left foot is cut off from the scanner, but it didn't look that good so I'm glad you can't see it, lol. Any suggestions for another god to do?

Neptune

Neptune was the god of the sea in Roman mythology. He is most identifiable as a tall, white-bearded figure carrying a trident, a three pronged fisherman's spear. Fittingly, he is often pictured with fish as well as with horses, another animal with which he is closely linked since he was also thought to oversee the sport of horse-racing. These horses drew the chariot in which he was said to travel over the sea.

The worship of Neptune, as the Roman version of Poseidon, is another example of cross-cultural assimilation in the ancient world where a great deal of dialogue and syncretism among different civilizations took place—not merely strife and warfare.

This is a 9x12 drawing done with pencil and charcoal I finished today. I have always liked Neptune, and the entire mythology of those ancient gods. I took a nude dra ing class my sophomore year in college. Since then I haven't really drawn any nudes, since obviously I don't have access to a bunch of naked people. But drawing the human body is very hard, and I don't want to forget everything I have learned.

Lanterns are Fun

Howdy, had a great weekend in Connecticut, the weather was so warm! I can not wait for spring and summer to come. I did this way back my senior year of high school, I believe it was just with charcoal. I will be very busy this next month, still in class, and also I will be moving back to CT in the end of April. So I will be organizing and packing things up in the next few weeks. Hopefully I will find time to do some more art, I really want to get a collection together and look for a place to put on a show and sell some. I also am looking for places to do an internship in CT, any suggestions as where to look?

When Geishas Attack

Another geisha, this one a bit more abstract. It is 11x14 acrylic on canvas. I gave it to Julie for helping out with Tim's campaign. I'm thinking about doing another one but in a different color. Any thoughts as to what might look good?

Continuing my Japanese mood, this is for my brother-in-law.
